Why is the bowl tilted?
The two sides of the stand are not the same height, so the bowl sits at 15 degrees rather than flat. The low side is the wide flared lip, and that is the side your baby eats from.
Two things follow. The food slides down to that lip instead of sitting in a ring around the edge, so they finish it. And they reach it without pushing their muzzle down into a deep bowl, which is the whole point for a flat-faced or arthritic pet.
Which height should I pick?
Stand behind your baby while they are on all fours and look at where the bottom of their neck sits. The rim of the bowl wants to be at about that height, so they reach forward instead of down.
Small is 4.3 inches tall; Medium is 5.9 inches. If you are between the two, take the smaller one. Slightly too low is far better than slightly too high.
Is it REALLY stainless steel?
304 food-grade stainless, and it passes a magnet test. We say rust-resistant rather than rustproof, because that's the truth. The welds are smooth and there are no crevices at the feet, which is exactly where a cheap stand starts rusting in two weeks.
My cat leaves a ring of food around the edge. Will this fix it?
That is usually whisker fatigue, not fussiness. A deep, narrow bowl presses on her whiskers, so she eats from the center only, or takes a piece out with her paw and eats it off the floor.
The bowl is wide and shallow for exactly this, and the 15-degree tilt brings the last of it down to the lip instead of leaving it round the rim.
How do I clean it?
The bowl lifts out of the stand with one hand and goes straight in the dishwasher. Nothing is locked in place, and there is no plastic housing for food to get trapped in.

Will this stop the vomiting?

What we can say is that eating with a level neck instead of a folded one is easier on the throat, and it's the first thing a lot of vets suggest changing.
Isn't it more natural to eat off the ground?
Humans slept on the ground for a hundred thousand years and we still buy mattresses and chairs. “Natural” stops being an argument the moment an animal is old, arthritic or flat-faced.
Can't I just use a box?
You can, and most people here already have. A cardboard box, a step stool, an upside-down bucket. It works, badly: it goes soggy, it tips, it's the wrong height, and it sits in the middle of your kitchen looking like a box. And a box does not tilt.
